Under floor low energy door operators - UFSO

Macwood underfloor low energy 'slow-open' automatic / manual door operators are ideal for use by everyone, especially people with disabilities without compromising building aesthetics, as the operator is concealed.

Safety:
By definition a low energy door operator, when opening a door, will not exceed 1.6 joules of kinetic energy which is the safe maximum specified by BS 7036 part 4. The safety sensor mounted on the push side will automatically re-open a closing door.

Doors fitted with a Macwood 'UFSO' operator can always be opened manually. They function as a normal hydraulic damped door closer which, in the event of a power failure is an essential feature.
  Installation:
The UFSO range of operators are suitable for new or existing doors - see right for installation options.

Activation:
Switch options include a range of push buttons, touch sensitive handles (for power assistance) remote controls and most access control switches including fobs, card readers, key pads and biometric readers.

operator options
  • Single action automatic /manual operation.
  • Single action assisted opening.
  • 'Fly-Open' for smoke ventilation, air pressure relief and escape (open on fire alarm).
  • Incorporation of PSB locking bolts integrated with the access control (where door widths allow).
  • Break-out where door construction permits.
  Pivot options
  • Suitable for centre pivoted doors.
  • Off Set Pivoted doors.
  • Hinged doors (for use with an off set strap).
Threshold options
  • Standard - Ribbed aluminium.
  • 28mm tray to take floor finish.

Typical UFSO section
Unit shown in section with ribbed aluminium threshold and typical bottom rail.

Operator dimensions:
Depth: 186mm
Width: 230mm
Length: To suit opening (min 850mm for single doors, min 1700mm for doubles. Add 150mm for PSB locking to each).

UFSO with floor tray option
Unit shown with 28mm deep floor tray to take 20mm
deep floor finish with 5mm of bedding.

Typical single UFSO plan
• Floor box made to suit the opening minimum of 850mm. With 65mm minimum distance between the pivot centre and the end of the box, ‘back-set’.

• Drainage required to centre of the box.

• Conduit entry usually to the centre of the box.

Arched head doors
  • The UFSO operator is suitable for installation with arched head doors. This is achieved by:
  • Use of an off set strap lined up with lift off hinges.
  • Floor box is set under the door frame at the pivot end to line through with the hinges.
Benefits
  • Making it possible to automate existing arched head doors; helping to overcome planning restraints and the challenge of bringing listed buildings into the 21st Century.
  • Plan Layout of operator with 5mm off-set strap showing pivot centre lined through with hinge centre. End of the operator floor box is set under the door frame.
  • Standard 36mm off-set strap available.
